Explore the Magic of Lift!

Witness Bernoulli's Principle in action. Adjust air speed and wing angle to generate lift, and see how shape changes everything.

Bernoulli's Principle & Lift

Lift is the force that opposes weight and holds an object in the air. For an airplane wing (an airfoil), lift is generated via Bernoulli's Principle, which states that where a fluid (like air) moves faster, its pressure is lower. An airfoil's curved top surface makes air travel faster than the air below it, creating a pressure difference and a net upward force – Lift!

How This Works

  • Set the initial conditions using the controls.
  • Press Start to begin the airflow and physics.
  • Observe the streamlines: Tighter lines mean faster air and lower pressure.
  • Increase the Angle of Attack (AoA) too much to witness a Stall, where the airflow becomes turbulent (red particles) and lift is lost.
