LCR Series Circuit
Analyze Reactance, Impedance, and Resonance in an AC circuit.
The Concepts
In an AC circuit, Resistors (R), Inductors (L), and Capacitors (C) all impede the flow of current.
- Reactance (X): The opposition from inductors ($X_L$) and capacitors ($X_C$), which depends on frequency.
- Impedance (Z): The total opposition to current flow in the circuit.
- Resonance: When $X_L = X_C$, impedance is minimal, and current is maximal.
How to Use the Lab
- The main screen shows the circuit and the corresponding Phasor Diagram.
- The Resonance Curve shows the circuit's current response to frequency.
- Adjust R, L, C, and the Driving Frequency ($\omega$) sliders.
- Observe how the phasor diagram and the current marker on the curve update instantly.
- Try to find the resonance peak!
